How TD-BLE enhanced fuel monitoring at underground storage tanks

Country: India
Client: Company with its own gas stations
Integrator: MOBA
Equipment:

Escort TD-BLE, MOBA GPS Tracker, MOBA software

Issue

MOBA was tasked with providing a system to monitor the fuel filled into and dispensed from underground storage tanks (USTs) at gas stations. The client faced significant challenges due to the length of the sensor cables, as the distance between the sensor on the UST and the MOBA GPS Tracker was 7-8 meters. Routing such long cables at ground level was not only difficult but also exposed them to risks of damage, such as cuts or breakage of couplers under heavy loads, leading to frequent sensor failures.

Additionally, the monsoon season posed a serious challenge, causing flooding that could compromise the system’s functionality. Recognizing these issues, the client sought a robust solution aligned with Industry 4.0 and IoT trends to streamline fuel monitoring, enhance operational efficiency, and enable remote access to reports for better decision-making.

Conclusion

The high water resistance of TD-BLE sensors ensures reliable performance even during monsoon season with its high risk of waterlogging. Switching to wireless TD-BLE sensors eliminates problems associated with damaged or severed sensor wires, resulting in relatively high sensor uptime.
