Titled “Comprehensive Fuel Accounting: Monitoring the Flow of Fuel Through Every Stage,” the event took place on October 16th in Dubai and was organised by the MEA team alongside industry experts.
Escort Sensors Dubai recently hosted a specialised workshop in collaboration with Wialon, GalileoSky|TLT, Howen Technologies, and Garvex
Due to oil transportation challenges and security issues, the workshop included international manufacturing leaders demonstrating advanced all-in-one telematics solutions. The case study was used to emphasise cutting-edge fleet monitoring throughout the entire fuel journey – from its arrival at the oil depot to its combustion in a vehicle’s engine during a trip. This was achieved by integrating various technologies, including AI-powered video dashcams, GPS trackers, fuel level sensors, and sophisticated fuel pumps and dispensers, all of which contributed data to a single comprehensive fleet management software platform.
The topic of fuel levels and security remote monitoring in fuel trucks was highlighted by Arslan Rahmatullin and Anass Qandouci, Escort International specialists
They told about the usage of wireless fuel level sensors (TD-BLE) and tilt angle sensors (DU-BLE) that helped face the client’s requirement to prevent unauthorised fuel theft, and hatch and dispenser systems’ box access during fuel transport from one point to another.
The unique Easy Logic technology in GalileoSky GPS trackers
Daniel Oniski, a representative from GalileoSky|TLT, introduced the implementation of GPS trackers designed for sustainable data collection from various peripheral devices. The unique Easy Logic technology in GalileoSky GPS trackers enabled the system integrator to develop customised tracking scenarios and integrate diverse equipment, optimising fuel management in the customer entity.
The following presenters, Jack Jiang and Hank Zhang from Howen Technologies addressed the critical issue of asset and driver safety in oil and gas transportation in extreme heat. They introduced Howen’s AI-based video solutions, which help prevent accidents by monitoring driver behaviours like speeding and distracted driving, providing an effective solution for comprehensive fleet protection in the oil sector.
A key element in this setup was the use of Garvex controllers for automated fuel accounting and dispensing, enabling the automation of existing customer fuel dispenser systems. Roman Razgulyaev also discussed compact fuel dispensers designed for fuel trucks. This equipment, seamlessly integrated with Escort fuel level sensors, allowed:
- the initial reception of fuel and transmission of data on received quantities to the software,
- operator-free fuel dispensing,
- automated logging of refuelling activities,
- and real-time data transfer to Wialon software.
The challenge of data analysis
One key issue faced by the final beneficiary, specifically the analytical department, was the challenge of data analysis. The lack of a centralised service for gathering fuel and lubricant data made it difficult to analyse fuel movement effectively. Additionally, the client’s use of multiple software systems for fuel data collection further complicated data management.
Gurtam representatives, Ketevan Khaduri and Artiom Romanovskiy, explained how the advanced Wialon platform enabled the integration of all peripheral devices into a single interface, offering the client complete, end-to-end analytics for fuel tracking across the enterprise of the end beneficiary.
Albert Zakaria, the GM of Escort Sensors UAE, stated, “I would like to highlight that, thanks to the advanced peripheral devices, petrol equipment, and software integrated into the client’s operations, were achieved:
- a 15% reduction in budget expenses on fuel and lubricants,
- 100% transparency in all fuel measurement and distribution processes.
Ultimately, senior and middle management shifted from intuition-based to data-driven decision-making and eliminated paper-based reporting. As a result, data collection and processing efficiency increased by 75%, significantly easing the workload for both the fuel and lubricants accounting team and the accounting department as a whole”.
The workshop was part of our visit program for GITEX 2024 Dubai, one of the main global technology events. The MEA team of Escort Sensors UAE received a lot of positive feedback from partners and attendees and plans to organise such an event regularly.
